CSI Objectives
The Curly Sporthorse International
registry (CSI) was established in 2003 to encourage the breeding of excellent
Curly sport horses. CSI is the only Curly Breed Organization currently sponsoring
USDF awards and focused exclusively on breeding Hypoallergenic sporthorses.
CSI recognizes a variety of breeds as "improvement" stock, and has
a committee to evaluate all potential improvement lines prior to registration.
These need not be Curly bloodlines and have no hypoallergenic requirements.
CSI registers Curly horses
and Curly Crosses on an equal basis. In an effort to apply uniform Grading
and Inspection Standards across the board, CSI has combined all Curlies and
Curly Crosses and Improvement Breeding Stock into one registry in order to
broaden the breeds' genetic diversity and to prevent the Curly Sporthorse
genetics from being fragmented by too many splinter groups trying to control
small numbers of horses.
The Curly Sporthorse has worked it's way into the hearts of CSI members, and
in many cases, proven to be a consistent performer in sporthorse arenas. The
Curly Sporthorse is reliable and even-tempered and has a desirable combination
of superb atheticism with an easygoing temperament that makes the Curly Sporthorse
unbeatable for both the professional competitor and the amateur.
Curly Sporthorse International is committed to the continued improvement of
the American Curly through selective breeding. CSI accomplishes this by the
certification of stallions and mares for breeding purposes.
CSI conducts annual inspections for grading and branding the horses it registers.
In the future, CSI hopes to hold seminars for training and licensing breed
judges and sponsor breeding clinics.
